The postcard Normandy harbour, half an hour from the terminal. Tall narrow houses mirrored in the Old Basin, cobbled lanes and artists’ studios — the town that charmed the Impressionists.
Half an hour from the terminal, Honfleur rewards a slow morning. Start at the Old Basin, where slate façades mirror in the water beside the sailboats — the town’s signature view. A few steps away stands Sainte-Catherine, the largest wooden church in France, raised by ship’s carpenters and topped by a bell tower that stands apart. Wander the Enclos lanes, thick with galleries and studios, and if time allows the Eugène Boudin museum honours the local painter who first led Monet to paint outdoors.

Honfleur is a half-day, not a marathon. The drive is barely thirty minutes across the Pont de Normandie, so there’s no need for a dawn start — leave after breakfast, spend the morning in town, and you’ll be back at the ship with hours to spare. The centre is pedestrian and spaces are scarce, so park on the edge at the Naturospace or East car parks. Because you drive your own car, the return time is yours: no shuttle, no fixed train, so a relaxed lunch by the water never puts your re-boarding at risk.
The route crosses the Pont de Normandie (toll), with a fine view over the Seine estuary. Leave the car at the Naturospace or East car parks on the edge of the pedestrian centre, then explore on foot. With a little time in hand, drive five minutes up to the Côte de Grâce for a panorama over the estuary and port. One car carries your whole group for one fixed price, and you set off exactly when you’re ready.
About 30 minutes each way, roughly 30 km across the Pont de Normandie. It is the closest of our day trips.
There is no rush for Honfleur. Leave after you disembark at a relaxed pace; a half-day in town is plenty, and you will be back at the ship with a wide margin.
The centre is pedestrian. Park on the edge at the Naturospace or East car parks, then everything is a short walk.
Very unlikely on a 30-minute drive. You choose the return time in your own car, so a relaxed lunch never threatens re-boarding.
Comfortably the Old Basin, Sainte-Catherine church and the galleries of the Enclos, with time for the Côte de Grâce viewpoint.
